I’m busy working on an exciting project – and doing research like crazy! And this is what I came up with – ‘Modern Rustic’.
What you think? In my mind, just perfect – rough around the edges, paired with some super-duper sleekness…… and throw in some crisp white, black and some grey and I’m a very, very happy girl.
Will talk more about the reveal, once I get the go-ahead!
What you think?
Some rustic stone is always a good point of departure – reclaimed even better.
Again, reclaimed would be your best bet. Antique, or mid-century wooden furniture, will add instant warmth to an otherwise stark surrounding.
Amazing that a material so cold, can come across so warm and inviting. Always pair with strong muted colour and a touch of wood, to off-set the sleekness.
Probably my favourite element – think light fittings, steel furniture or -fittings.
Personally, I love to pair this look with a muted palette. Nothing shows off the simple, yet functional lines better. Think black, greys, white and shades thereof as your go-to colours….
Modern Take on Tradition
Shaker style rules supreme here. Make simple adjustments – re-paint kitchen cupboard doors, and swop the heavy handles out for simple pull tabs or pair a modern parsons desk with some Bentwood classics. It is just impossible for this look to date.
