Off to College we go!

College life, Reese, Legally Blonde

You can never be overdressed or overeducated.

This post was supposed to go out last week already, but as per usual, life got in the way. With kids going off to school, new routines to get used to, the blog fell by the way side. Apologies!

My own trip to University feels like yesterday and not a lifetime ago. Can still remember the trip with my mom to get the essentials – multiplug, kettle, mugs, desk lamp and bedding and the agony to make the shared space feel like home. Something we at least managed to do – although the desk became my beauty dresser and my bed the preferred place to study – go figure……

Today made me feel really old, seeing my friends’ daughter getting ready for her freshman year. So I offered to make her shared space feel like home, by pulling together a quick look for her dorm room.

Funny, twenty years later and the requirements have not changed one bit, except for electronics making their lives way more comfortable – no cellphones, internet or laptops used my time round…… How I remember queuing to make a call from the pay phone when feeling terribly homesick and writing papers (manually) until my fingers where numb. I guess they’ll have their own challenges to deal with – one electrical outlet in the room spells social media meltdown!

Here’s the look I pulled together for Sarah and as per usual, Target came through!  Hope you enjoy and to all the Sarah’s out there standing at the threshold of brand new beginnings – all I can say is Enjoy! It goes faster than you think!

I. Love. Target.

There, I’ve made my confession. I really, really do love Target.
The amount of product on offer in the States is sheer mind-blowing – in fact, at first I found it quite intimidating, just deciding which one of the 50 different brands of loo paper I was going to go with – left alone any interior-related stuff, which is my ultimate weak spot. Budget (or rather the lack thereof) luckily keeps my obsession at bay – it seems lady budget is lurking around every damn isle with her razor-sharp pin, ready to pop my shopping dream bubble. So far, she’s been sucessful – until I met Target.
Yes, you still need to trawl through all the crap (nice crap that is, that you don’t really need, but want to get)in order to get to the stuff that you could actually justify to buy.
Why I love Target – that is easy! Great products, at great pricing – what is there not to love about that?
I found a way to get my design fix, without spending one brown penny – just look at this fabulous storyboard I’ve made for my virtual home offce, without spending anything. Thanks Target, you’ve come through for me, yet again!

ps. By the way, this post was not sponsored by them, altough I wish it was…..
